This was also true of Bram Stoker, who was many things: a civil servant, a theater manager, a progressive thinker—but above all, a pioneer of horror literature, a writer who created not just a literary figure, but a myth, with Dracula. In the Irish author's 1897 work, the infamous, centuries-old figure of the vampire found its definitive literary form. In honor of the author of this classic horror tale, Montblanc has created the Writers Edition Homage to Bram Stoker Limited Edition, which illustrates how the fight against the forces of evil has been advanced by the progress of medical science. Bram Stoker's masterful descriptions of the settings and the appearance of Dracula continue to take readers' breath away to this day. The Writers Edition captures this ominous atmosphere with the color scheme of the cap and barrel, where the apparent interplay of red and black precious resin heralds approaching danger. The signature of Count Dracula's literary creator is immortalized amidst the swirling pattern on the cap. Inspired by the marks of his vampire bite, the ruthenium-coated clip tapers elegantly, echoing the shape of a historic Montblanc fountain pen clip. Two markings on the clip ring evoke the vampire's bite marks. The form of this writing instrument is a tribute to a milestone in medical technology—the Pravaz syringe, which operated via a screw mechanism. The decorative elements of the fittings also recall a classic Victorian writing instrument—much like the one Bram Stoker likely used to compose his works. Even though the author did not live to see the worldwide fame of his iconic character, he alone deserves the honor of the Writers Edition Homage to Bram Stoker.
